ANOTHER EPIC NIGHT GOLF EVENT IN DAPHNE, AL

The heat lightening in the distance made for a periodic Wizard of Oz flash effect that accented Cosmic Driving Range targets perfectly. After a buffet dinner party Timber Creek went nuts with a filled field of 20 bays and hundreds of players coming from as far as Mobile. Thanks to everyone who put the event together.

During the evening we put on a slew of competitions for glow golf balls, glow belts, cosmic mohawks. It was nuts. We also had some seriously heavy hitters who skied the and send glow balls into the neighbors yards nearly 300 yards away. I blame the super awesome Glowv2. It’s definitely the longest hitting night golf ball on the market.

The coolest part of the evening was when we had to end. We have a tradition of allowing the players to walk onto the field with us to check out the spectacle from up close. They are able to experience the epic size of the targets in the space. But what really rocked was when we finally turned off all the lights and stood among thousands of glowing golf balls like fire flies everywhere. I wish I could get a shot of that.

Come play night golf during the PGA Merchandise Show!

We are more than excited about putting on the first truly legitimate night golf championships…during the PGA Merchandise show here in sunny Orlando at Dubsdread Golf Course January 23-28. If you are a golfer looking for a new cool challenge, come join us for the event of the year. If you are a golf course that loves night golf and wants do to a qualifying event, check us out as well. We think this is going to not only be an amazing championships wrapped in our Cosmic Driving Range Party, but also a great way to grow the game of golf for hundreds of golf courses around the country:

NATIONAL FORMAT:

The NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP will be a 2 player scramble. Teams will compete over two rounds of 9 holes with a Saturday night final showdown on the Cosmic Driving Range for those awesome night golfers that are tied up after 18 holes.

EVENT SCHEDULE:

FOR THE FIRST TWO DAYS will are putting together our neon night version of a demo day. We are calling our “Cosmic Demo Nights’ on the Dubsdread water range and showcasing our Gen2 Cosmic Aqua Targets. It’s not something you will want to miss. Vendors and sponsors from the PGA show are invited to check it out or have a demo hitting bay and bay party.  Then on Friday and Saturday we ‘let loose the hounds’ with two 9 hole rounds of night golf culminating in the final showdown on the Cosmic Driving Range for the teams that are tied.

HOW TO QUALIFY FOR THE NATIONALS?

IT’S ACTUALLY SUPER EASY!  Just sign up for an event in your area and then pay a NGN $10 registration fee above the events registration fee. %100 of this goes to prizes and travel for the winners. So the hardest part of your qualifying event is to actually go low and win it.

HOW TO HOST A QUALIFYING EVENT?

Becoming a venue is easy. Just pick a date and start registering players. We supply you with a customize tour poster and online event registration page so players can sign up quickly and easily.

NATIONALS RULES:

We will be following all the standard USGA rules but with a few twists that accomodate for night golf and safety. First off, players are allowed to clean and place after all shots. Players also get a one club relief from obstacles so as to speed up play. Other than that, you are playing straight up competitive golf.

THE NATIONALS ARE GOING TO LOOK
AWESOME!

THESE PUPPIES DESTROY GLOW STICKS! We here at Glowgear have been busy beavers trying to solve the biggest problem in night golf – lighting the putting greens! Now players at the night golf nationals will be able to play serious golf by seeing their tee shots, bunker shots and especially the break on the putting greens. No more brailing in the dark with glow sticks wrapped around the pin flag. We are going to do it right! Our new carousel of five ‘Master Blasters’ light up a 3oft round circle with ‘eye friendly’ green accent light that doesn’t mess with your rods and cones. (night vision) It just bathes you in a cool green light that allows you to score. So combine this with tour quality night golf balls and you are playing legit golf…just at night.

We took these photos during the 24 Hour golfathon to raise money for child hood cancer at TPC Sugarloaf. The lights were turned on at 8:30pm – went through a two hour drenching (rain delay) and then kept running until 6:30 am the next day. (last photos) That’s durability and long life.

PUTTING GREEN LIGHTS THAT CREATE PLAYER SAFETY:

Most people don’t realize that one of the most dangerous parts of the night golf experience is players hitting onto a green with players still on it. They do this because they cannot see who is on the green and in many situations they can’t see more than a thin glowing pin. Our night golf light changes that on a quantum level and creates the safety necessary to create a fun and safe experience for everyone.

How I was effected by a crew of Olympians with huge hearts

The storm clouds were rolling in as we arrived at Silver Springs Golf club in Menomanee Falls, WI, just outside of Milwakee. Then the first good news came our way. We were setting up in what I would consider the coolest underground ‘bunker’ of a driving range I’ve ever seen. It was huge and impressive with a mountain of possibilities for our lighting and targets. It was also going to keep our players and supporters warm and dry no matter the weather conditions. Then the second surprise arrived. An army of highly motivated volunteers and special olympics athletes ready to help us erect our course. Never before had we received such support to set up our field targets.

DONATE TO THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS TODAY AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

In a matter of hours we had the wiring and targeting set up a day in advance. But what I really want to address was the effect all these young athletes had on me. I’d never been around men and women with disabilities. I, like many others lived under semi fearful illusions about who they were and how much they could actually contribute. In the end one thing became extremely clear. Yes, these men and women have varying degrees of cognitive challenge, but their hearts and souls are fully intact. In fact, they were the happiest, most emotionally in touch group of people I’ve met. You see, we’ve done 19 events on tour in the last year and a half and we’ve dealt with all sorts of assistants from helpful to down right entitled and resistant to any kind of work. But these kids were super into any challenge and grateful for guidance and involvement. All in all, I would do it again with this very same crew in a heart beat. They made what turned out to be one of our biggest weekends a complete blast.

Of course our first night was a thunder storm, but our ‘bunker bays’ were as I predicted, warm and dry and banging with music and games. I, on the other hand, had to run around doing the tech things I do, so by the end of the evening I was shaking hands with happy golfers thanking us effusively for the glowing good times, as I stood wet as a rat in the rain. But on Saturday, the sun came out and everything dried out and we had a second night of complete awesomeness….and I was dry as a bone thank god.

So many thanks to the Special Olympics as a whole for the great things they do to involve and empower young and old. If you ever get a chance to participate or donate to the Special Olympics, take the chance and see how your heart will smile. It happened for me and it will happen for you. THIS HAD TO BE THE EPIC EVENT OF THE 2016 SEASON

Crow Valley Golf Club in Davenport IA never saw the Cosmic Driving Range coming when we pulled up, but they will never forget us! Two days that turned out to be a blast with the range in all it’s glory, cosmic putting, skills and 4 holes of night golf. THE SECRET NIGHT GOLF CAPITAL OF THE WORLD?

We landed on Thursday, driving through the gates for Westwood Country Club in beautiful Rocky River, OH, just west of Cleveland. They are in the midst of a complete greens renovation so players were hitting onto fairway greens, which, by the way, were better than most greens on most hot courses. We then set up on a very nice, tight driving range for three nights of Labor Day weekend parties. The final night culminating as family night with about 100 kids going nuts.

We’d never seen so many kids stay for so long. We opened the evening festivities at 8:30 and the kids didn’t stop hitting until we shut the place down at 11pm. What is more awesome than that is that we have a tradition of inviting players out into the field at the end of the evening. They get to walk among the giant targets and inevitably throw balls at the targets to watch them flash and make noise. This time, we had a swarm of kids running onto the field like never before. At one point they overwhelmed out back field targets by jumping on them like they were bouncers. Parents were running frantically yelling to them to stop, but to no avail. I couldn’t get my camera out in time to catch it, but wow, what a sight.

It’s amazing to live today with camera phones so good you can catch all the action…but when I can’t catch it I feel like an epic moment has been lost. When 30 kids are swarming our targets like ants on a massive glowing cupcake, it’s a true sight to see. The same missed camera phone moment  happened in Davenport when, at the very end of the weekend we were hit with a massive rain storm. Everyone ran for shelter. Since I was out on the field I ran for the car bubble. Climbing in I found myself inside a giant vinyl dome of light as the glowing course stood around me and the rain came down. Then, as I went for my phone to take a video…it had run out of juice. Only I alone could simply absorb all the awesomeness of the moment. It is now just a story with no proof. Like the giant fish story. After telling a cart boy, it ran through the club and in the end the head pro said he wished he could have been out there to see it with me. Sadly an un-captured epic moment in Cosmic Driving Range history.

So here are some highlights I did capture from this weekends’ event. Thank you to everyone at Westwood CC for all their hospitality and participation in bringing the 2016 summer tour to a close. It’s time to go back to Orlando!

We are more than amped to be putting on the first Night Golf National Championships at Dubsdread Golf Course in Orlando, FL January 27-28th. This is the first step to create a new, legitimate sport in golf with a legit championships.

The first Night Golf Nationals are in the books!

with the winning team of “TEAM LOUD” ripping up the two night, 18 hole event with a scorching 56 (-16) YOUCH! And they were playing at night! Draining birdies on nearly every hole. Bravo!

We launched the first nationals during the 2017 PGA Merchandise show so we could get players and fans from far and wide. What we didn’t realize was that the gaggle of fans hanging out on the 8th hole dogleg were actually from Venezuela. How crazy was that. But I will say, they sported an awesome pineapple martini. (Thank you)

The drone has a killer inflatable skin that will be lit up for easy targeting. It’s inflated to hopefully protect our drone from an early demise. So come on out so you can say you saw it first.

Our other big competition will be the long shot competition where we put a series of giant towers 30ft round and 20ft high) in the back field and now, instead of just seeing how far a player can hit their ‘big dog’, they have to actually score with their driver. This has never been done, because no one has ever had targets so smart and so huge.
